17" All Composition Shirley Temple Doll

Description

This is a 17” SHIRLEY TEMPLE all composition doll by Ideal Toy Co. Ca 1934-1935. Shirley dolls were sculpted by Bernard Lipfert and he captured her likeness to a T.
Her original honey-colored mohair wig is styled in her signature curls all over the head. However, the ringlets are not tight anymore and now the hair has relaxed into soft curls. Brown tin eyes that sleep and are still clear. Open mouth showing upper teeth. Eyebrows and lower lashes are painted; however, the applied upper lashes are sparse and the lower lashes have faded. Please see photos as they show details better than I can describe.
Markings on the back of the neck read: Shirley Temple; 17; Ideal; Cop N&T ©. On the upper back torso it reads; Shirley Temple 17.
Costume: She wears a Stand Up and Cheer Style dress - which is an empire waisted dress with a gathered full skirt and gathered puffed sleeves. This dress has a green coin dot design on white organdy. A rayon/cotton onesie. Oilcloth shoes and rayon socks. The left shoe has been mended.
The composition is in very good condition. She has all her fingers and toes. No major signs of paint loss, crazing or lifting and still has the patina. There is a faint crazing line forming above the right eye. Please see photos.

I charge a small handling fee to help with the cost of shipping materials used when packing antique dolls. If you wish to add insurance, please contact me before making payment so I can add it to the invoice total. Sorry, I do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii, nor do I ship internationally, so no international bidders please.
